Helen “Thomas” Grigsby, 96, of Checotah, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020, at her home surrounded by family. Helen was born on December 28, 1923, in Bower, Oklahoma, the daughter of Dewey and Linda (Beck) Thomas. On December 30, 1941, Helen married L.J. “Son” Grigsby. They were happily married for fifty years. Helen loved children which is why she chose to work as a Head Start Driver and a babysitter in her lifetime. She loved to watch her kids, grandkids and great grandkids play basketball, golf, tennis, and sing. She had a very competitive spirit and loved to play games. She usually won. Her life was dedicated to her family. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She loved to buy Christmas presents but could not keep them a secret until Christmas. She loved to dance. She even loved to wash a load of laundry every day even if it was just 3 pieces. She enjoyed gardening and canning her vegetables, she loved her flowers and always hoed them and kept them beautiful. She enjoyed mowing the grass, (which got Larry in trouble with the local men). She loved her friends and neighbors. She loved the Gospel Jubilee. She also loved her Thunder! Go OKC. Her greatest love was her family and they loved her.
