Grant Harrison French

June 2, 1938 — March 14, 2012

Grant Harrison French was born June 2, 1938 to Grant and Nora French. G.H. was raised in the Bower Community and attended elementary school there. He attended Canadian High School and graduated in 1956. On July 10, 1959, he married Patsy Starkey of Stidham. G.H. and Pat were married for fifty-two years and resided in Tulsa until their retirement. They built their retirement home in Stidham, not far from Pat’s original home place. They had two children, Sherry and Alix. G.H. worked in the sheet metal manufacturing business. He was employed by Braden Steel for twenty-five years and J&G Steel of Tulsa for sixteen years. After retirement from the steel business, G.H. moved to Stidham and began the construction of his shop. Being an artisan, G.H. designed and built his own metal building. There was always a project to do. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his brothers would make their annual pilgrimage to the deer camp in the winter months. During the summer months, G.H. enjoyed gardening. He planted, harvested, and sold watermelons and cantaloupes. Before retirement and “farm life”, G.H. and Pat enjoyed traveling on their summer vacation. They visited Hawaii, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Pikes Peak, and Canada. Both enjoyed the beauty and splendor of God’s creation. Grant French is preceded in death by his parents, Luer Grant and Nora French; brothers, Everett French, Bobby French, J.D. French, Don French; and sister, Lucille Grider.
