Glenda Marie Owens Rains

Glenda Marie Clayton Owens Rains, 95, of Stroud, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Glenda was born on March 2, 1927, in Avery, Oklahoma, the daughter of Mark Clayton and Thelma Ford. She graduated from Stroud High School and later attended beauty school in Tulsa. Glenda worked as a beautician for several years. She married Arthur Owens Jr. on October 2, 1947. Junior passed February 23, 1993. While her children were in school, Glenda stayed home to take care of them. In 1967, Glenda went to work for Stroud National Bank and after more than 20 years she retired. After retirement, Glenda went back to the bank to roll coins. She married Jessy Rains who proceeded her in death. Glenda enjoyed working in her yard and mowing. She was known by her children's friends for her chocolate chip cookies. She loved watching baseball, the OKC Thunder and was an OU Fan. She especially loved spending time with her family. At the age of 90, Glenda completed her "Bucket List" by going to New York City to see Madison Square Garden with her family. Survivors include: her son, JR Owens and wife Katherine of Eufaula; grandchildren, Tiffany Howard and husband Doug of Broken Arrow, Chris Wright and wife Leslie of Bixby, and TJ Owens and wife Abby of Frisco, TX; great grandchildren, Tyler, Trent, Scarlet, Sammy, Sulley, Sophia, Jack, Aiden, Brady, and Carley; nephews and nieces, Gary Roberson and wife Bitsy of Stroud, Jimmy Wood and wife Connie, Mark Clayton and Debbie Krasinski; sister in law, Pat Owens plus Ricky and Micky Owens, Randy Owens and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Mark Clayton; mother, Thelma Ford; husbands, Arthur "Junior" Owens and Jessy Rains; daughter, Deana June Owens Wright; two siblings, Bill Clayton and Louella Spears and a grandson Brian Wallace.
