Gladys was born on July 23, 1926 in Summerville, Oklahoma to Ben Brewer and Ida Johnson Brewer. She met her husband, Warner, while working at a coffee shop in Mena, Arkansas during early 1945. Warner was a brassy Army soldier on his way to his next training post with an army buddy. As they left the coffee shop, Warner told his friend, "I am going to marry that girl!" They were married on April 7, 1945. Warner and Gladys had two daughters: Suzanne Marie and Janet Lou. They later adopted Janet Elaine. Gladys and Warner lived in McAlester, Oklahoma until 1960 when they moved to Tulsa. Gladys worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot and later at Dobson"s Department Store in McAlester. After moving to Tulsa, she worked at Brown-Dunkin and Froug"s Department Store. They moved to Eufaula, Oklahoma when they retired in 1978. Upon retirement, she further developed her artistic endeavors. Gladys opened a small ceramic shop at home, which led to making porcelain dolls and dresses for them. After Warner"s death in 1998, she turned to porcelain painting. Survivors include: brother, L.A. Brewer, of Muskogee, OK; daughters: Janet Sims-Perry, of Hulbert, OK; and Janet Elaine Crouch-Murrell and husband, Eric, of Bixby, OK; son in-law, Jeff Hall and wife, Shelley, of Alexandria, Va; grandsons: Dr. Jason Sims, of Tulsa, OK; Austin Ribbe, of the home; Alex Hall and wife, Sophia; and Oleg Hall, all of Alexandria, VA; E.J. Murrell, of Bixby, OK; granddaughters: Katherine Elizabeth Hall, of Georgetown, MD; Anna Hall, of Alexandria, VA; great grandchildren: Gabriel Warner Sims, of Tulsa, OK; Eleanor Sims, of Norman, OK; and Bryan Hall, of Alexandria, VA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Warner Crouch; her parents, Ben Brewer and Ida Johnson Brewer Custer; and one daughter, Suzanne Marie Crouch Hall.
