February 14, 1951 — July 30, 2024

George Thomas Cheatham, 73, of Yukon, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon, Oklahoma. He was born on February 14, 1951, on a cold, snowy valentine morning in Poteau, OK.

After graduation George worked in maintenance with the Mid-Del school system as a painter. George and his parents moved to Lake Eufaula once his dad retired. George enjoyed fishing with his dad, always catching big catfish and crappie. He was a great cook and could fry the best fish ever.

George took pride in planting a big garden and always had an abundance of produce. He loved to raise chickens. George was a volunteer fireman for the surrounding rural communities and would often come home with the smell of smoke and ashes all over his clothing.

After losing both parents he moved to El Reno, OK, in 2008 to a residential care home and later to River Oaks Nursing Facility where he was content and cared for by the wonderful staff.

George was preceded in death by his father Herbert Glenn Cheatham; mother Clara Elizabeth (Houseman) Cheatham and brother Roy Glenn Cheatham.
