Gene Richard Brooks, aged 90, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Born on August 10, 1934, in Liberal, Kansas, he was the cherished son of William Oscar and Lola Bernice (Seward) Brooks. Gene graduated from Liberal High School in 1952 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably until his discharge on September 6, 1955.

On June 12, 1960, Gene married his beloved wife, Kathie House. Their 64 years of marriage were filled with love and companionship. Professionally, Gene was skilled as a millwright and woodworker, contributing his talents to his community.

Gene is survived by his devoted wife, Kathie Brooks; daughter Lori Kimball and her husband Daniel of Yukon; and brother Ernie Brooks of Kingman, Arizona. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Patrick Kimball, Amiee Miracle, Michael Kimball, and Grant Kimball, all residing in Oklahoma City, along with three great-grandchildren: Jaxon Miracle, Everlee Larkin Kimball, and Addison Kimball.

Gene was predeceased by his parents, his son Brett Brooks in 2011, granddaughter Larkin Gray in 2014, as well as five brothers and seven sisters.

A memorial service honoring Gene’s life will be held on 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Lake Eufaula Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Jeremy Little. Arrangements are entrusted to Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory.

Gene Richard Brooks will be remembered for his warmth, skill, and the love and dad jokes he shared with his family and friends. He leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
