Gary Clark McKay was born October 5, 1936 to Corinne (Kinsey) and Everette James McKay in Oklahoma City, OK. He graduated Will Rogers High School. In 1954, he joined the U.S. Navy and served as an aircraft mechanic in Attack Squadron 125 during the Korean conflict. After holding several jobs in construction, he went to work for Western Electric in OKC in 1959. Working to support his family and attending night school, he completed his degree in Business Management in 1970, as well as played in the Tempest Band comprised of fellow co-workers from the plant. They played in several clubs (particularly the Lakeside Club) in the OKC area., as well as private parties, from about 1963 - 68. His career up the ladder with the company began in 1966 when he was promoted to section chief in Coin Telephone Fabrication. He finally ended his 33 year career in 1992 as Manager, Plant and Factory Engineering and Works Services. He married Carol Jo (Henry) in 1990. They lived in the Sandy Bass No. 4 area on Lake Eufaula since 1997, when Carol was also able to retire from the company, now named Lucent Technologies. He is survived by his children: Mark, Sherry, Matt, Mike, Bonnie, Brenda, and Bruce. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jo McKay; and his brothers, E.J. (Junior), George, and Ron.
