Garry Allan Hulme, Sr., passed from this life on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. He was born June 1, 1938, in El Reno, Oklahoma to Wayne Gordon "Bill" and Lorraine Tye Hulme. He graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City in 1957. He married the love of his life, Norma Ann Brilinski of Dearborn, MI, on December 27, 1959, at Hope Lutheran Church. Garry served in the Navy for 22 years. At the time of his retirement he was Chief Petty Officer and had received many accolades. He served aboard the USS Toledo and was involved in the Battle of Formosa Straits (China); served in Vietnam and was involved in the Tet Offensive and was involved in military intelligence for the bulk of his Naval career. Garry was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan and also in Bogota, Columbia, South America at the American Embassy. Once Garry left the military in 1977, he went to work for the Hartford Insurance Company Regional Office in Dallas, TX., until he and his wife relocated to Oklahoma in 1983. Garry then went to work for the Veteran's Administration in Muskogee that same year until he retired in 2000. Garry was a Life Member of the Fleet Reserve Association, he was the local Post Commander and the District Commander of the American Legion Post #82, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) #3, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) #8798, the Blind Veterans Association and the National Order of the Trench Rats, Dugout 582. Garry received the Keys to the City of Eufaula as well as a Citation for his service from the State of Oklahoma in 2004. He served as Oklahoma Boys' State Chairman for several years and was very passionate about the program. Garry was past President of the Longtown Community Center and served on the Executive Board of Under One Roof Resource Center of Eufaula. Garry was also a charter member of the Eufaula Boy Scouts. Garry is survived by his wife, Norma, of the home; 1 son, Garry Allan Hulme, Jr. and his wife Shryl of Eufaula; 2 grandsons, Jason Hulme of Plano, TX and Shelby Franklin of Eufaula; 1 brother, Don and his wife Teiko of Moore; sister-in-law, Joyce of Columbus, MI and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Susan Hulme of Prague, OK and one brother, Gordon Wayne Hulme of Spruce, MI.
