Garland W. Curtis, 91, of Eufaula, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Center in Muskogee. Garland was born on October 18, 1925 in Fame, Oklahoma, the son of Marion Franklin and Lona Mae (Asher) Curtis. He attended Shell Creek Elementary, Hanna Public School and later Eufaula High School. Garland received his GED at the age of 53 years old. In 1943, Garland enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged on April 24, 1946. On October 21, 1948, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on June 27, 1952. Garland married Genoa Ann Redding in Eufaula, Oklahoma on July 27, 1959. He worked as an electrical planner and estimator. Garland was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Genoa, of the home; his son, Garland William "Billy" Curtis Jr. and wife Darlena of Owasso; his daughter, Janette Lynn Johnson of Oklahoma City and step-daughter, Pamela Beth Peterson-Steidley of Eufaula and daughter-in-law, Lana Peterson; his brother, Jerry Curtis and wife Carol of Stillwater; sisters-in-law, Patricia Curtis and Kathy Curtis; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Leroy Curtis, John Curtis, Don Curtis and Fred Curtis and his sister, Maurine Blevins and a step-son, Randy Peterson.
