Freddy Leroy Wright

September 28, 1959 — April 3, 2020

Freddy LeRoy Wright, 60, of Checotah, passed away on April 3, 2020 in the home he shared with his wife, Cindy. He was born September 28, 1959 in Norfolk, Virginia to Fred and Linda Wright. He and Cindy were married December 21, 1979. They were very happily married for 40 years. Freddy served in the United States Army for two years and spent some time in Korea. He worked as a general contractor and carpenter for 35 years. He loved building houses, but especially enjoyed cabinet making and trim work. He was excellent at it. He built many homes including a home for he and his wife and his daughter, son-in law and grandchildren. His big desire was to striper fish and to be living at Eufaula Lake. He enjoyed being on the lake and loved to take the kids and grandkids in the boat fishing, tubing, and skiing. He loved his family trips pheasant hunting in the panhandle with his children, grandchildren, his wife, and his dad. He was a Christian and a heart transplant recipient. Four and a half years ago he had major heart attacks, leaving him with 10 % of his heart and congestive heart failure. He survived until 2019 when God and Dr. Nahban led him to a special advanced cardiac team at Integris Hospital. He had a heart transplant on May 29, 2019. Throughout a hospital stay of over 100 days, he was able to share his faith and positivity with the medical staff. They were blessed to have doctors and staff of the Christian faith who prayed with them. He fought through many obstacles and was about to complete his first year post transplant. We were so blessed by having him nearly another year. We are very grateful to our donor family. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Wright, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Matt Vandeberghe of Bethel Acres, OK; his son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Kristin Wright, of Bethel Acres, OK; his grandchildren, Dawson, Hayden, Bryce, and Alexys; his dad, Fred Wright, of Bethel Acres; his sister, Crystal Potter, of Bethel Acres; his brother, Mike Wright, of Bethel Acres; his mother-in-law, Sue Glover, of the home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Life Share of Oklahoma at www.LifeShareOK.org
