Fred W. Johnson, Jr., 78, of Checotah, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020, in Tulsa. Fred was born on May 27, 1942, in Hobart, Oklahoma, the son of Fred Wilburn and Reba Alice Best. He graduated from U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City. He received his bachelors degree from Calvary Baptist Institute and Seminary. He later received his masters degree and was bestowed his doctorate in 2005. On June 2, 1963, Fred married Roberta Belle Sharp in Oklahoma City. They were happily married for fifty-seven years. In his early years, Fred worked in the furniture business. He served as a pastor in Washington State and Oklahoma. Fred spent most of his life in the ministry. He was the Principal of the Oklahoma City Christian School. He was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Roberta "Bert", of the home; his son, Chuck Johnson and wife Rhonda of Rowlett, TX ; his daughter, Garrett Dean and husband James of Bethany, OK; his brothers, Roy Burt Johnson and wife Jewell of Barre, VT and Larry Johnson of Mustang, OK; his sisters, Dickie Johnson of Edmond, OK and Jeannette Ridner and husband David of OKC, OK; his grandchildren, Amberley Giles and Levi of Norman, Brittany Johnson of OKC, Tyler Johnson and Angelica of OKC and Katie Thibodeaux and Rustin of Pryor; two great grandchildren, Hailey and Loxley. He is preceded in death by his parents.
