Fred B. Jackson

Fred Blanton Jackson, 93, of Eufaula, passed away on June 26, 2020 at his home. Fred was born on October 21, 1926 in Wellington, Kansas to Jasper Andrew, Sr. and Margaret Alto Jackson. He graduated from Classen High School in 1944. While attending Classen High School, Fred was active in band and orchestra, where he played lead trumpet from 1942 - 1944. He enlisted in the United States Navy in September of 1944 and was honorably discharged in August of 1945. He was an original member of the Sooners Dance Orchestra, organized by band director Oakley Pittman. While attending OU, Fred helped organize the Ramblers Dance Band playing lead trumpet. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1950. Fred formed his own band called the Top Hatters. He went to work for the Gates Rubber Company as a Field Engineer selling V-belts, all types of industrial hose, and custom made molded rubber goods. In 1955, Fred went to work for Farmers Insurance Group as an all lines claims adjuster. In 1960, he opened Jackson Auto Parts affiliated with NAPA. Fred sold Jackson Auto Parts in 1965 and returned to the insurance claims business working with One Beacon Insurance Company, formerly known as Commercial Union Insurance Company. He then opened an office for Adjustco Inc. out of Florida where he primarily handled worker's compensation claims for self insured companies and groups. He was instrumental in organizing and establishing the self insurance program of the Oklahoma Rural Electric Cooperatives. After two years, Adjustco decided to branch into other claims, so Fred left and went to Fred S. James Company where he retired from in 1989. In 1951, Fred took up bowling and has been an avid bowler ever since. He became a Mason in 1982 and was a member of the Myrtle Masonic Lodge #145, Guthrie Scottish Rite, and the India Shrine Temple. Fred married Bee Renner in 1990 and moved from Oklahoma City to Lake Eufaula in 1991. They were happily married for twenty years, before she preceded him in death on September 10, 2010 to be with God and wait for him. Survivors include: children: Jeffrey Jackson of Checotah; adopted son, Mark Jackson of Florida; Gary Jackson; step-daughter, Patti Wolever of OKC; step-son, Scott Renner and spouse, Carrie of OKC; sister, Patsy Lent, of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Tanya Whitmill and spouse, Denise, Jimmy Jackson of OKC, Jeremy Browning, Kristen Campbell and spouse, Ray, Angela Hambrook and spouse, Justin, Julie Dwyer and spouse, Steve; Kelley Morris; six great grandchildren and one great great grandson, Axtyn Cooper. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret A. and Jasper A. Jackson; wife, Bee Jackson; brother, Dr. Jasper A. Jackson; and step-son, Mickey Morris.
