Floyd Wayne Stalcup, 88, of Eufaula, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Veteran’s Hospital of Muskogee. Floyd was born on January 26, 1924, in Moorewood, Oklahoma, the son of Lonzo and Elliwies (Holder) Stalcup. He graduated from Hammon High School. On September 11, 1942, Floyd enlisted in the United States Army serving during World War II and Korea. He was honorably discharged on March 23, 1951, receiving the American Theater Service Star; European African Middle Eastern Service Star with one Bronze Battle Star; Distinguished Unit Badge with one Bronze Cluster; Croix do Guerre; Good Conduct Medal; Purple Heart for wounds received on Ansio Beachhead on May 31, 1944. On November 5, 1944 Floyd married Twylah L. Travis. Floyd worked as a post master in the Hammon and Oklahoma City post offices, before retiring in 1979 after working 36 years. He was a member of the North Fork Baptist Church. Wayne loved to golf, fish, and spend time with family and friends. Survivors include: his wife, Twylah Stalcup; his daughter, Karen Luellen and husband Rick of Eufaula and his brother, Jack Stalcup of Elk City; three granddaughters, Lori Adams and husband, John, of Eufaula, OK; Julie Davis and husband, Danny, of Decatur, TN; and Natalie Brackin, of Spring, TX; one grandson, John Wayne Miller; fourteen great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronnie Stalcup and three brothers, Buss, Pete and Harvey Stalcup; and two sisters, Clara Stalcup and Elois Davis.
