Floyd “Wayne” Spargur, 77, of Longtown, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Hospital in Muskogee. Wayne was born on June 22, 1935, in Compton, California the son of Floyd Edward and Mary Rachel (Ritchie) Spargur. He attended school in Compton, California, Yukon and Bethany. On January 27, 1954, Wayne enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in Oklahoma City. He received several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the UN Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 30, 1956. He worked in maintenance for Lucent/AT&T for thirty years. He also worked as a brick mason for ten years. On October 9, 1990, Floyd married Linda Lee James in Oklahoma City. He was a member of the Eufaula VFW Post 8798. Survivors include: his wife, Linda, of the home; his sons, Kenneth Wayne Spargur of Euless, Texas and Tim Obney and wife Melinda of Coweta; his daughters, Lisa Rosemary Thornton of Longtown; Teresa Carroll Kelly and husband Ronald of Canadian; his sister, Carroll Ann Seabolt of Sandsprings; his grandchildren, Bridgett Marie North, Jennifer Michell Bentley, Joel North III, Krystalene Cheri Spargur, Kayla Gwen Spargur, Kari Dawn Hinkle, Keith Obney, Tara Barnes, Jessica Mackey, Kit Mackey, Courtney Plunk and Kristen Plunk; ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Loren Sparger, one son, Jimmy Salzman, one daughter, Tracey Mackey and one grandson, Jeremy Britt.
