Eugene Leroy Cromley

Eugene LeRoy Cromley, 82, of Eufaula, passed away on July 11, 2016 in his home. Eugene was born on April 2, 1934 in Winfield, Kansas to Roy Lee and Jessie Christina (Whaley) Cromley. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1953. On November 6, 1955, Eugene married Mary M Sparks in Arkansas City, Kansas. They were happily married for over sixty years. He worked in the mechanical department for the Santa Fe Railroad in Arkansas City until being transferred to Oklahoma City in 1960. Eugene worked for thirty-nine years for the Santa Fe Railroad from January 1957 until his retirement in April 1996. He was a member of the Choctaw Road Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. In 2006, Eugene and Mary moved to Eufaula, where they became members of North Fork Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #1 in Eufaula and a 32nd Degree Member of Indian Chapter Scottish Rite Society of Oklahoma. Eugene built two homes for his family. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. Survivors include: wife, Mary Cromley, of the home; son: Steven LeRoy Cromley and wife, Denise, of Mission, KS; daughter, Sherry Lynn Burke and husband, Tim, of Eufaula, OK; brother, Charles Wilbur Cromley, of Winfield, KS; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents: Roy Lee and Jessie Christina Cromley. Memorial contributions may be made to Oklahoma Baptist Builders c/o BGCO 3800 N. May Ave. OKC, OK 73112
