Estelle was born on October 14, 1922 in Konawa, Oklahoma to John Hobart and Lora Mae (Cloud) Smith. She attended and graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1940. Estelle received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Oklahoma University in 1944. On March 11, 1944, she married Alva Glenn Horner, raising four children together before he preceded her in death in 1991. Estelle worked as a registered nurse several places, including Mercy Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Bone & Joint Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, Baptist Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital in McAlester, Ammunition Depot in McAlester, and the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee. Survivors include: her two sons, John Scott Horner and wife, Judy, of Edmond, OK; Glenn Worth Horner and wife, Susan, of Vista, CA; two daughters, Sue Dobson; Cindy Dawson and husband, Ronnie, both of Eufaula, OK; one sister, Jeannie Smith, of Edmond, OK; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Velma Waddle, Geraldine Gamel, Gertrude Smith, an infant.
