Ernest Roscoe Hayes

Ernest Roscoe Hayes, Jr., 90, passed away on October 11, 2016 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Ernest was born on December 8, 1925 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Ernest Roscoe Sr. and Edna Marie (Tillman) Hayes. In 1944, he graduated from Hoisington High School in Hoisington, Kansas. Immediately after, Ernie served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. On December 6, 1947, he married Louella Giddeon in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They were happily married for sixty-nine years. Ernest attended Spartan School. Ernest enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 1, 1951 and was honorably discharged on September 2, 1952. He worked as a mechanic, pilot, and flight engineer at the Tinker Air Force Base and then at the FAA until retirement. Ernest enjoyed bowling and dancing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Oklahoma City. Ernest was a member of the Eufaula First United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Survivors include: his wife, Louella Hayes, of the home; daughter, Anita Perry, of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Shauna Meador, of Verdigris; Brandon Perry; and Dillon Perry, both of Shawnee; and brother, James Hayes, of Canton, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Sr. and Edna Hayes; and one sister, Norma Crowley.
