Erma Leigh Summers, 91, of Eufaula, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 in McAlester. Erma was born on June 15, 1921, in Honeygrove, Texas, the daughter of Dura Carson and Claudia Bell (Green) Gilbert. She graduated from Foster High School in Oklahoma City. Erma had three children which she supported in all of their activities throughout their school years being active in PTA, little league and as a scout leader. In 1967, she began working for Sky Chefs at the OKC airport. In 1979, she married Tommy Summers a high school classmate and retired to Lake Eufaula. Together they enjoyed hosting lots of friends and family at their lake home. She became involved in the Eufaula community by volunteering at the Eufaula Hospital Auxiliary for over thirty years. She was a member of FLEAS and also helped at God’s Helping Hands. Erma volunteered at the Eufaula Library and regularly attended Friends of the library as well. Erma was a member of the Eufaula First Baptist Church and enjoyed her Companion Sunday School Class. Survivors include: her son, Randy Sanders and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City and their children Tatum Sanders and Tad Sanders also of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Lynda Alexander and husband, John of McAlester, their daughter, Stacy and husband Scott Leming of Stillwater and their children, Garrett, Parker and Landry; their son, Marc Alexander and wife Marie of San Diego, California and their children, Emma and Brody; her daughter –in- law, Glenda Sanders of Savanna, her son Brandon Sanders of McAlester and his children Anna and Erin; her son, Tommy Lee Summers and wife Robin of Irving, Texas, her daughter, Melinda Woodside and Claire of Edmond and their sons, Aaron, John and Christian.
