Edwin E Dedmon, 81, of Eufaula died Saturday, August 3, 2019. Ed was born March 2, 1938, in Hodgen ,Oklahoma to Carl Leland and Bernice F. Pennington Dedmon. Ed was a retired Senior Master Sergeant who served in the Air Force for 24 years. He was stationed at various bases throughout the states and served 3 tours in Vietnam. Ed's last tour in Vietnam was as an Illuminator Operator on C 130 gunships. He served his country well and was very patriotic. Ed received numerous medals while in the Air Force which included Distinguished Flying Cross, 8 Air Medals, 2 Vietnam Service Medals and numerous others. Ed is survived by: his wife of 45 years, Jhonnie, of the home; his daughters, Amanda Dedmon (Tulsa), Donna Sherwood (Ridgeway, Colorado), Deborah Joyce (Norton, Mass.) and his stepsons, Charles R. Eddlemon, Jr. (Midwest City) and Byron Eddlemon, (OKC). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Abbigail Dedmon (OKC) Aspen Dedmon (Norman), Karsen Milligan (Tulsa), Matthew Eddlemon (Midwest City) Kaylan Eddlemon (Midwest City), April Eddlemon (Edmond), Craig Eddlemon (Norman), Paige Eddlemon (Norman), Alexandra Torres Quinteco (Scotland), Bobby Joyce (Mass.) Rose Joyce (Mass.), and Steven Joyce (Mass.); and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister, Theda Metcalf and his brothers, Dwight, Dwayne and Byron Dedmon. Ed cherished his time with family, friends and grandchildren. He loved fishing and had a great love for playing his guitar. He was a fan of both the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He had a great love and respect for the flight crew he flew with in Vietnam on the C130 gunships. Ed worked for Boeing and Lockheed in Saudi Arabia before returning to the States to work for Boeing at Tinker Air Force. He then moved on to work with Air Transport in Little Rock, Arkansas as a flight engineer. Ed was always sure to talk with other Vietnam veterans and always thank them for their service. In memory of Ed, please consider a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. There will be no services per Ed's wishes. Cremation arrangements were made with Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory.
