Edward Earl Patterson, 74, of Longtown passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at his home. Edward was born on September 29,1946, in Hobbs, New Mexico, the son of Robert Rae and Nell (McClelland) Patterson. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 1964. Edward joined the United States Navy and served from 1966-1972 in the Seabees, serving in Vietnam from 1966-1968. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1972. While serving in the Navy, Edward received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. On January 29, 1979, Edward married Darla J. Whatley in Lovington, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on May 9, 1999. On February 14, 2000, he married Susanna Elaine Cress in Humble, Texas. They were happily married for twenty years. Edward attended OSU Tech where he received his AAS in Auto Mechanics in 1966 and then his Associates Degree in Mechanical Drawing and Engineering 1971. Edward worked for Den-Con Tool Company in Oklahoma City for 38 years as a field sales rep of oil and gas equipment. He was still employed at the time of his death. Survivors include: his wife, Susanna, of the home; his son, Randall R. Patterson and wife Christina of Rock Springs, WY; his daughter, Jennifer J. Patterson of Rossiville, GA; his brother, Robert R. Patterson, Jr. and wife Fern of Moore, OK; and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife. Cremation arrangements were made with Hunn Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory.
