Earl C Speights

Earl C. Speights, 91, of Claremore, formerly of Eufaula, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Jack C. Montgomery Veteran's Hospital in Muskogee. Earl was born on September 5, 1927, in Hankamer, Texas, the son of Ester Lee and Kate Speights. He graduated from high school. In 1945 Earl enlisted in the United States Army in Altamont, Kansas. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged in Washington State in 1947. He was married to Carrie Speights. Earl worked as a self employed welder in Valley Center, Kansas. He retired in June of 1992. Earl was a member of the North Fork Baptist Church of Eufaula, Oklahoma. Survivors include: his daughter, Lonna Echols and husband Mike of Checotah; his son, Wayne Arthaud of Augusta, Kansas; his grandchildren, Chad, Derek, Bethany and Rebecca; his great grandchildren, Gabrielle and Trenton; and two great great grandsons. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carrie, his brothers, Floyd, George and Eugene and his sisters, Lucille, Wilder, Margaret and Grace and a grandson, Danny Tharp. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta, Kansas.
