Dwight Verlin Young

Dwight Verlin Young, 80, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, at his home. Dwight was born on October 5, 1943, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, the son of Dwight Louis and Nettie Sue Young. Dwight was baptized at the age of 12 in Britton, Oklahoma. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1962. He enlisted in the United States Marines during Vietnam serving from 1962-1968. Dwight then served in the United States Army and the National Guard until October 2003. While serving, he received the Oklahoma Commendation Metal and the Oklahoma Meritorious Award. On November 25, 1966, he married Claudia Leslie Young in Oklahoma City. They were happily married for 57 years.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia, of the home; daughters, Shawna Goodwin and husband Chris of Jones, Oklahoma and Shayla Bratcher and husband David of Eufaula, Oklahoma; brothers, David Dawkins of Oklahoma City and Jerry Dawkins and wife Rosie of Oklahoma City; sister, Mary Bateman and husband David of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren Skya, Shawn Kody, Brittany, Ashley, Tanner, Macy, Connor, Bekah and Dakota and two great grandchildren Tatum and Vann. He is preceded in death by his parents.
