Doug Carey

William "Doug" Douglas Carey, 71, of Eufaula, passed away on August 13, 2022 in Checotah, Oklahoma. Doug was born on August 13, 1951 in Checotah, Oklahoma to William "Tootle" Roy and Lois Lanore (Fyffe) Carey. He attended Stidham Public School through his sophomore year and then graduated from Eufaula High School in 1969. In 1971, Doug received his Associate's Degree from Connors State College. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Science from East Central University. On April 12, 1972, Doug married Paulette Thomason. They were happily married for fifty years. He retired from DHS in 2004. Doug later worked as a car salesman for fifteen years. He was a member of the Stidham Baptist Church. Doug never met a stranger and loved to talk to everyone. He was a good, kindhearted man that will be deeply missed. Survivors include: his wife, Paulette Carey, of the home; sons: Brad Carey and wife Carri; Landon Carey; daughter, April Scantlen and husband Terry; brother, Joe Dan Carey and wife Debbie; sister, JoAnn Rippy and husband Ronnie; fourteen grandchildren: Jamie Carey and wife Kyla, Colton Carey, Taylor Minshall, Cheyenne Carey, Ethan Carey, Mea Carey, Sadie Belicek, Katelynn Munn, Alyssa Munn, Chisholm Belicek, Cheyenne Belicek, Colton Scanlten, Hunter Carey, and Gunner Carey; and two great grandchildren, Allie Roark and Gracelyn Minshall. He is preceded in death by his parents, "Tootle" William and Lois Carey.
