Doris Jean Mcfarland

Doris Jean McFarland, 72, of Eufaula, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at her home. Doris was born on September 5, 1941, in Lenna, Oklahoma, the daughter of Riley D. and Gertrude May (Proe) Shipman. She attended Stidham Public Schools. In 1959, Doris married Robert E. Gibson in Reno, Nevada. They were married for over 35 years. She then married Claud Miller. They were married for over ten years. She later married Buddy McFarland. Doris owned the D.J. Café and the Bob"s Pizza Restaurant. She later worked as an LPN from 1986 to 1990 working in home health, Wellington Hills Nursing Home and as a private care nurse. She was a charter/life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8798 and a member of the Eufaula Eastern Star. Survivors include: her son, Paul Gibson and wife Janie of San Marcos, Texas; her daughters, Penny Haas of Eufaula, Andrea Newport of the home and Cindy Varnon of Okmulgee; her brothers, John Shipman of Lenna, Charles Tony Shipman of Prescott, Arizona and Don Shipman and wife Judy of Vivian; her sisters, Betty McGuire and husband C.D. of Muskogee, Shirley Fowler and husband James of Boynton, Nita Smoot of Sachse, Texas and June Rush and husband Doug of Eufaula; 18 grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sons, Kurt and Tommy, sisters, Ruth, Susie, Chris & Lois and her brothers, Albert and Robert.
