On September 25th in the early morning hours, my dad, Donald "Slick" Layman Sr,. turned off his lawnmower one last time at the age of 70 years young. The Lord decided it was time for him to hang that "gone fishing" sign on the front door and reunite with my mom for eternal fishing trips to Bunny Creek . He was born on November 25, 1951 to Alonzo and Lorene (Brandon) Layman in Vivian, Ok. He was schooled at Stidham and grew up around McIntosh County being a simple man, eventually meeting my Mom Dora Fisher, in which their early marriage would last over 50 years. Unfortunately, she preceded his passing on August 1, 2015. My dad is survived by myself, Donnie "Speedy" Layman Jr., wife, Okla White. His twin sister, Connie Oliver of Florida, Martha DeSimone of Hawaii. Other sisters in Oklahoma are Caroline Layman Harrell, Penny Greco, Sue Gorby. Surviving brother is Gary Layman and Lonnie "babe" Layman. Preceded in passing are his brothers Clonnie Layman, Johnny Layman, Ronnie Layman Sr., his father Alonzo Layman and his mother Lorene (Brandon) Layman. Being a member of Stidham Baptist Church and knowing Pastor Gene Ray Cook, it was decided to have his services there, with Gene Ray preaching his best. Services will be announced at a later time.
