Donald Maurice “Butch” Coleman, Jr. was born on August 3, 1945 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Donald Maurice and Jeanette Louise Coleman. He passed away on April 28, 2013 in his childhood home, surrounded by his loving family. Don graduated from Eufaula High School in 1963 as Salutatorian, attended Eastern Oklahoma A&M University in Wilburton and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, and went on to serve in the Naval Air Reserve in Lakehurst, New Jersey. His professional career encompassed primarily working in the field of insurance, owning his own brokerage firm in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, from which he retired, returning to Eufaula in 2000. He enjoyed cooking, playing pool, and dancing. His greatest passion was playing golf with his many friends at Fountainhead (Creek) Golf Course. He also enjoyed many travel golf destinations, including Cape Cod and Pebble Beach. After learning of his diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia, Butch requested that he be returned to his home in Eufaula, the home in which he was born, to spend his remaining days and to have the opportunity to say good-bye to his many friends. During the four days that he lived after returning home, over a hundred friends and family visited Butch to reminisce and pay their respects.
