Delores Ann Johnson

November 17, 1934 — March 15, 2015

Delores was born on November 17, 1934 in Checotah, Oklahoma – "a mile and a half south of her house" – this is what she was told by her parents Roy and Betty Ellis when she once asked where she was born. She was the youngest of 6 children. After graduating high school she traveled to San Diego, California where her sister lived and met a young marine, Dale V. Gehrt. They were married and in 1955 moved to Iowa where they made their home and raised Mike and Becky and divorced in 1975. In 1975 she moved back to her home town of Checotah where she married Marshall Warren. They were married until his death in 1982. In 1983 she married Jess K. Johnson. Delores is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Betty Ellis, 3 brothers (Winslow) Corky, Sumner and Dee, her sister, Cletis Williams and her husband Marshal Warren and husband Jess K. Johnson. She worked as a secretary at Culligan"s in Iowa and once in Oklahoma she worked several secretary jobs – legal secretary for Marshall Warren, worked at Youngman"s Rock Crusher, First United Methodist Church and Eufaula Creek Nation Indian Clinic were among some of them. She was very proficient in shorthand and her ability to type very fast. Delores enjoyed crossword puzzles and coffee. Her greatest loves were her children: Michael "Mike" Dale Gehrt and Rebecca "Becky" Anne Musselman. She loved to travel and go on cruises with both of us. She loved to spoil us to the point of ridiculous. Survivors include: son, Michael Dale Gehrt and wife, Donna; daughter, Rebecca Anne Musselman and husband, Ivan; granddaughters: Dawn Dupire and husband, Shawn; Amber Downum and husband, Trey; Mindy Menees and husband, Charlie; great grandchildren: Fayth, Shelby, Baylee, Dawson, Dalton, Hunter, Mason, Travis, and Sawyer, all of Eufaula, OK; sister, Dona Jenkins, of San Diego, CA; and a host of family and friends.
