**Obituary of Delbert E. Strickert**
Delbert E. Strickert, age 82, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away on November 2, 2024, at the McAlester Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 7, 1942, in Scott City, Kansas, to Phil and Myra (Roemer) Strickert.
Delbert graduated from Shallow Water High School in 1960. On July 4, 1965, he married Donna Arlene Leighty in Garden City, Kansas. Their marriage was a source of joy for thirty-eight years until her passing.
Delbert joined of the Army National Guard in the state of Kansas. While serving he received The Citizen Soldier Award for Outstanding Achievement. This award was presented to those who met exceptionally high standards set by the Fifth U.S. Army and the Adjutant General of Kansas. The standards are exemplary of not only military proficiency but also of the citizen service to the community.
Throughout his career, Delbert left an indelible mark in various fields. He worked at the Gentle Giant Bowling Center and later transitioned to Leo's Electric as an electrician. Eventually, he joined Classic Cable, where he served as an installer and technician. In 1984, he and Donna relocated to Eufaula, Oklahoma, where he continued to be active in his community even after retirement, mowing yards and working weekends at RCB's. Delbert had a deep passion for fishing, earning the affectionate nickname "the pool stick fisherman" for his unique ability to catch fish using a pool stick.
Delbert is survived by four children: Phil Strickert of Plains, Kansas; Steve Strickert of Euless, Texas; Carol Strickert; and Monica Strickert. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Savanna Strickert, three great-grandchildren: Skylar Strickert, Miles McCormick, and Parker McCormick, and four siblings: Linda Orrick, Phyllis Sage, Annette Armstrong, and Bill Strickert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Myra Strickert, his beloved wife, Donna and a niece Dana Marie Orrick.
A funeral service honoring Delbert's life will be held 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Kelley Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home.
Delbert will be remembered for his unwavering spirit and the love he shared with his family and friends.
