David Lloyd Hedges, 91, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at his home. David was born on July 26, 1929, in Healdton, Oklahoma, the son of Homer Hendrix Hedges and Doris (Meador) Hedges. He graduated from Lawton High School. David attended the University of Oklahoma, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in History from Northeastern State University and later received his Masters Degree from the University of Arkansas. He worked on his Doctorate at the University of Chicago. David enlisted in the United States Army on May 12, 1951. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged on April 14, 1953. During his enlistment he was the Editor of Pacific Stars and Stripes Newspaper. On March 16, 1952, David married Carmita June Shropshire. They were happily married for sixty-nine years. David taught English and started a theater group at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He was an English professor at Northern Illinois University located in DeKalb, IL. He owned and operated the Gramophone Shop, a classical music store in Tulsa. David loved going to England almost every year, and also enjoyed living in Eufaula. David is survived by his wife Carmita June Hedges. He is preceded in death by his parents.
