Daryl Wayne McKnight was born 06/22/49 to William Henry and Christine Meador McKnight in Stratford, Oklahoma, and died on May 1, 2018. He, along with big brother Bruce and younger brother Gary, were raised by Christine following William Henry"s death in a car accident. By all accounts, Wayne was the wild child of the family—riding bikes to Pauls Valley and Sulphur (22 miles one way), smoking grape vines (which turned out to be poison ivy), loving fast cars, and other assorted adventures. After graduating from Stratford High School, he married Lynne Livingston of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. They briefly attended OSU in Stillwater then moved to Oklahoma City where Wayne began employment with Dayton Tire (Firestone). Two daughters, Traci and Kerri, were born of the marriage before it ended. Wayne married Janelle Jaquess in 1975. During Wayne"s 34 years at Firestone Tire Corporation, he spent his spare time boating and water skiing at Lake Eufaula and honing his golfing skills as a 3 handicap player. He visited some of the most celebrated golf courses in our country and south of the border where he once won a car in a golf tournament. Diagnosed with AML in 1995, he underwent a bone marrow transplant and the residual effects determined that he play less golf. He began cooking and loved outdoor grilling and smoking. Following retirement, he began woodworking. The search for a shop building brought Wayne and Janelle to Eufaula where he became interested in city activities. He was most proud that in 2012, he led the United Methodist Men to a first place prize in the annual Whole Hawg barbeque smoking competition. He is survived by his wife, Janelle; his two daughters, Traci McKnight Broadhurst and Kerri McKnight McIlvain; son-in-law Scott Broadhurst; son-in-law Brent McIlvain; two grandsons, Cooper and Max Broadhurst; three granddaughters, Abigail, Hannah and Grace McIlvain; as well as his two brothers, Bruce and Gary; sisters-in-law, Elaine and Joyce, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may make a memorial contribution in Wayne"s name to the Methodist Men, 220 S Main Street, Eufaula, OK 74432, or to the Chamber of Commerce Foundation, 321 N Main Street, Eufaula, OK 74432, for Whole Hawg Days activities
