Danny L Arterberry

Danny Arterberry, 70, of Canadian, Oklahoma, passed away, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the McAlester Regional Health Center. Danny was born on July 18, 1951, the son of Millard Lee and Gilberta (Burwell) Arterberry. He graduated from Spiro High School in 1969. On November 22, 1969, Danny married Mary Jean Eldridge in Canadian, Oklahoma. They were happily married for fifty-two years and raised two sons together. He received his Business Associate’s Degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton in 1986. Danny served in the United States Navy for twenty-three years. While serving, he received the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Good Conduct Award. Danny worked as a pipe shop supervisor at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester for twenty-nine years. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Crowder. Danny enjoyed camping, fishing, and canning. Survivors include: his wife, Mary Arterberry, of the home; two sons: Danny Arterberry and wife, Mary Amanda, of Crowder, OK; and Brian Arterberry and wife, Bobb, of McAlester, OK; brother, Reggie Arterberry and wife, Lynn, of Avenger, TX; sisters: Kathy Stafford and husband, Jerry, of Tahlequah, OK; Angie Arterberry and Heidi Arterberry, both of Oregon; six grandchildren: Madison Arterberry, Ashton Arterberry, Charli Arterberry, Caleb Arterberry and wife, Ashley, Kyle Arterberry, and Jude Arterberry; and two great grandkids: Presley Mann and Harrison Arterberry. He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Gilberta Arterberry.
