Courtney Kaye Shropshire, 51, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022, at her home. Courtney was born on January 19, 1971, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Eddie Max and Beverly Joyce (Thomas) Farmer. She attended Deer Creek High School in Edmond and graduated from Rose State University with an associate degree in Paralegal Studies. On February 24, 2001, Courtney married Kelly Shropshire in Oklahoma City. Courtney was an avid outdoors person. She excelled in many sports growing up; soccer and basketball to name two. She loved riding horses and participated regularly in rodeo play days. In the winter you could find Courtney blazing through the moguls on a ski slope and in the summer, cutting through the water on a slalom ski. An interesting fact about Courtney is she was a championship wrestler throughout grade school and passed that on to her sons who, not surprisingly, became championship wrestlers themselves. With the initial five children being wonderful sons, you can only imagine Courtney’s joy when her daughter, Lainey was born. Finally, someone to do girl things with. Courtney loved the beach and listening to music. Most of all Courtney loved her children and was their number one fan. One could always find her at her children's activities, sometimes by just listening. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. Survivors include: her husband, Kelly, of the home; her sons, Trevor Fernandez of Oklahoma City, Steven Fernandez of Eufaula, Trey Shropshire of Oklahoma City, Cade Shropshire of Norman and Logan Shropshire of Norman; daughter, Lainey Shropshire of Checotah; her mom Beverly Thomas of Macomb; brother, Brent Farmer and family of Oklahoma City and a granddaughter, Ashlynn Reece Pistole Fernandez. Courtney was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Farmer. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 1st at 1:00 PM in the event room of the Xtreme RV Resort located at 203 Adams Avenue, Eufaula, Ok 74432. Flowers can be sent to Hunn, Black and Merritt Funeral Home in Eufaula, Ok 74432.
