Cloyd "Babe" Harjo

August 26, 1937 — April 14, 2011

Cloyd “Babe” Harjo, Sr., 73, of Eufaula passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the OSU Medical Center of Tulsa. Cloyd was born on August 26, 1937 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, the son of Ernest and Alice Harjo. Cloyd graduated from high school and received his Bachelor’s degree as a draftsman. On January 21, 1954, Cloyd married Claudette Colbert in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He worked as a cabinet maker, was a certified fireman and also served as a missionary. He was a member of the Tuskegee Indian Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Claudette, of the home; his sons, Cloyd Harjo, Jr. and wife Laura of Norman and Lincoln Harjo and wife Lucyann also of Norman; two foster children, Manuel Lewis of North Dakota and Jesse Lewis of Oklahoma; his brothers, Dave Spencer and Redman Spencer; his sister, Ruby Hill of Bearden; seven grandchildren, Lauren Harjo Redhouse, Rebecca Cravatt, Lisa Redhouse, Dinah Harjo, Zechariah Harjo, Joseph Harjo and Noah Harjo; his grandsons-in-law, John Paul Cravatt, Rodrigo Redhouse, Roderick Redhouse and James Vandament, and one great grandson, Elisha Harjo. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Floyd Harjo and two sisters, Elsie Mae Harjo and Mary Louise.
