Clarence Wendell Burns, 74, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away surrounded by family on June 21, 2021, at his home. Wendell was born on April 4, 1947, in Mellette, Oklahoma, the son of Odie Lee and Opal (Urquhart) Burns. He attended Eufaula Public Schools and went on to Barber College. On August 7, 1965, Wendell married Janeane Pratt. They were married for fifty-five years. On October 12, 1966, Wendell was drafted in the United States Army. He served during Vietnam and received several awards including the NDSM, the Good Conduct Medal, USM with Bronze Service Star, OS Bar (1) RVN, RVNCM with DEV 60. He was honorably discharged on October 11, 1968. Wendell was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #1 and a member of the American Legion. He loved working in his yard and in his garden, which he gave most of it away. He loved cooking and was always there to share. Wendell was a member of the Church of God. Survivors include: his wife, Janeane Burns, of the home; his sons, Matthew Burns of Bartlesville and Craig Burns and wife Mekia of Eufaula; his daughter, Jenny Fields and husband Dave of Broken Arrow; sisters, Wanda Montgomery, Beatrice McCoy and Lavonda Pence; brother, Michael Burns; grandchildren, Katrina, Olivia and Aidan Burns, Dustin and AJ Fields, Leslie Christian, James Burns & wife Elizabeth and Clarence Wendell Burns III and one great grandson, Gabriel Christian. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Clarence Jr. and a brother, Grover.
