Chester Eugene Mcgirt

Chester "Gene" Eugene McGirt, 62, of Mounds, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020, in Tulsa. Chester was born on October 9, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Chester and Betty Mae (Francis) McGirt. He graduated from Eufaula High School in 1976. He then enlisted in the National Guard. In October 2004, Chester married Stephanie Michelle Marshall in Arkansas. He worked at Apex in Checotah. He then worked at River Spirit Tulsa Creek Nation Casino retiring in 2009. Chester had a kind heart and a big helper to anyone who needed it. He also fed the homeless people in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City. He was a jokester and enjoyed driving around, fishing, watching airplanes land and watching hawk/eagle encounters. He was an avid fan of OU, the Thunder, Vikings and the Cubs. Chester was a member of the Cedar Springs Indian Baptist Church of Gore. His greatest love was spending time with his family. Survivors include: his wife, Stephanie, of the home; his sons, Lewis McGirt of Mounds, Cordell McGirt of Sand Springs, stepsons, R.D. Tiger, Tristan Bruner and Dylan Bruner all of Mounds; his daughters, Gina & Jeremy Locust of Gore, Madison McGirt of Mounds, step daughter, Amber Choate and husband Nashoba of Marietta; his brother, Patrick McGirt of Oklahoma City; his sisters, Christy Estep and Patricia Hudson both of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, Tatum, Jordyn, Gabriel, Keigan, Shyanne, Oaklyn, Alexander and Dominic. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Marcus and Michael, his son, Marcus Sampson McGirt, and step son, Stephen Bruner, two granddaughters, Charlotte and Taryne and a special nephew Jerrell Birdtail.
