Charles Andrew Hammett

Charles Andrew Hammett, 77, of Eufaula, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Charles was born on March 16, 1944 in Eufaula, Oklahoma, the son of James Charlie and Rosie Ann (Hice) Hammett. He graduated from Eufaula High School in 1963. On June 10, 1963, Charles married Nora Sue Standridge at the Lindsey Chapel Baptist Church. They were happily married for fifty-eight years. Charles worked for Foresee Ready Mix for 55 years. It was his first and only job. He worked hard every day for his family. Charles was a strong Christian man, song leader and deacon at the Eufaula Church of Christ. He loved carpentry and working with his hands. His greatest past time was being with his grandkids and riding his golf cart with his wife. Survivors include: his wife, Sue, of the home; son, Charles Andrew "Bub" Hammett Jr. and wife Lori of Eufaula, grandchildren, Laura Hammett, Charles "Jesse" Hammett and wife Linzie, Shelby Luellen and husband Joe, great grandchildren, Lena Hammett, Charlee Hammett, Alexis Hammett and Peyton Steel; daughter, Melissa Beth Hammett-Merrick and husband John, grandchildren, Brandon Merrick and wife Sierra and JT Merrick and wife Laura Jean; sister, Ella Dean Newton. he is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marie Davis, Lucille Murry, Hattie Fay Hammett and a brother, Vernon Hammett.
