Charles "Al" Thurman

Charles Alvin Thurman, 76, of Checotah, passed away on January 17, 2017 at his home. Al was born on September 9, 1940 to Cliff and Susie (Denton) Thurman. He graduated from Temple High School in 1958. Al served in the Oklahoma National Guard. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor"s Degree in Accounting. Al worked as a Certified Public Accountant in Anadarko for six years. Al owned and operated a Wag-A-Bag Chain for forty years. On June 6, 1986, he married Margaret Ruth Keene in Oklahoma City. They were happily married for over thirty years. He was a member of the Bedouin Shriners Clowns, the Masonic Lodge, and an avid Oklahoma State Cowboys Fan. Survivors include: wife, Margaret, of the home; sons: Clifton "Quint" Thurman and wife, Caryn, of Hobbs, NM; Christopher "Chris" Gregg and wife, Jill, of Marquette, KS; daughters: Karolin Thurman and Sandra Long, both of Norman, OK; Micaela Gero and husband, John, of Tulsa, OK; Katrina Thurman and Bobb Hawkey, of Philadelphia, PA; and nine grandchildren: Kara, Nathan, Nick, Sara, Kevyn, Paige, Jack, Jurnee, and Jordan. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Eugene and Carl Thurman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bedouin Shrine Transportation Fund, PO Box 1667, Muskogee, OK 74402, PH: 918-682-2761.
