Charlcie Ruth Yandell was born in Vivian, Oklahoma on August 13, 1918 to Charlie Lawson and Fida Pollard Lawson. She married Arch Conley Yandell on May 29, 1937 in Eufaula, OK. He was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 8, 1990. After 93 years, 4 months, and 5 days, Charlcie has reached her promised land and is now at home. “There is no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Rev 21:4). Charlcie enjoyed life, never wanting to miss a family gathering or church social. As a believer, she would ask that each of you serve God for he alone gives you hope, peace, joy, and love. Charlcie is survived by her children, daughter Marjorie Louise Sparks, son-in-law Herschel, son Phillip Paul Yandell, daughter-in-law Carol, and numerous grandchildren. Her grandchildren include Dr. Robert and Marsha Moody, Michael and Melissa Ward, Mikel and Tammy Sparks, John and Marilyn Tate, Mark and Nicole Sparks, Dane and Angela Yandell, Lance and Heather Lewis, and Berry Jo Yandell. Great-grand children include Dr. Robert Allen Moody II, Brian and Rachel Long, Elijah & Caleb Tate, Noah Sparks, Adley & Brennan Sparks, Garren, Trett, Morgan, Thadan, & Tandon Yandell, Gracey & Miah Lewis, and one great-great grandchild Kinley Moody. She is also survived by her sisters, Pauline Frost of Muskogee, Erma Lee Craig of Vancouver, Washington, Joyce Dillingham of Muskogee, one brother Elbert Lawson and wife Darlene of Muskogee and one sister-in-law Earnestine Lawson. Charlcie has joined her sister Jean Spradling and husband Johnny, and brother Preston Lawson. Charlcie was a homemaker, gardener extraordinaire, founding member of the Vivian Baptist Church, and was loved by all that knew her. She was famous for her coconut pies and brownies. She was affectionately known as “Madame” by her husband Arch, and “Mow” to her grandchildren. She loved God, family, and her church. The family wants to express their gratitude to longtime caregiver Betty Shatswell, whom Charlcie thought of as one of her own, as well as caregiver Cathy Wilson, the staff of Eufaula Manor for the kindness that was shown her and the family, and to Heartland Hospice.
