Carolyn Ruth Burns

Carolyn Ruth Burns, 68, of Eufaula, passed away on December 8, 2020 at her home. Carolyn was born on April 12, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Carroll Cole and Ruth Cyrilene (England) Rodgers. She attended school in Oklahoma City. Carolyn worked as an administrator at vo-tech. Carolyn was the best mom and nana in the world. She was the jokester andthe fun one to be around. Everyone she met just loved her. She was known for her quick wit and her infectious smile and her compassionate spirit. On May 8, 2009, she married David Lee Burns in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They were happily married for eleven years. She had so much love for her husband, daughter, grandkids, mother and brothers. She loved animals of all kinds, but had a fondness of dogs. She also loved to drag race as a hobby. She won her first race at 15 on the street. She read every hot rod magazine she could get her hands on. In the 80's, she finally got to do it for real. Coca Cola sponsored her for five years and she won the driver of the year award. She won a lot of races and she would always say "if you snooze, you'll lose." Carolyn was a member of the Eufaula First Church of God. Survivors include: her husband, David Lee Burns, of the home; daughter, Shawnda K. Johnson and husband, Phil, of Bethany; and three grandchildren: Bryton, Carson, and Calen Johnson, who she adored; her little brother, Robert Rodgers, who she loved very much, of Owasso; Louella Smith and lots of cousins, nieces and nephews who she loved to joke with all the time. She is preceded in death by her father, Carroll, her mother, Ruth, (who was her best friend, and one brother, Charles D. Rodgers.
