Carmen Joseph Narde

Carmen Joseph Narde, Jr., 84, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018, at his home. Carmen was born on April 20, 1933, in Geneva, New York, the son of Carmen J. and Mary Rose (Calabrese) Narde. He attended St. Mary's School in New York and graduated from Northside High School in 1952. On July 29, 1953, Carmen enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged on July 28, 1955. Carmen received his Bachelor's Degree in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University in 1961. After graduation, he went to Canada to work in Ceramic Engineering due to no job availability in the states. On May 9, 1987, Carmen married Sonja Simpson. They were happily married for thirty years. On March 9, 1991, he was elected to the Sports Hall of Fame in Corning, New York for football. Carmen worked as an engineer for the Naval DOD in Panama City Beach, Florida. He worked in the brick business most of his life. He worked as the manager for about four years at the Boral Brick Incorporation in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Carmen lived in Canada, New York, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma. After retirement, he was active in Campers On Mission and Baptist Builders. He and Sonja moved to Eufaula in September of 2006. Carmen was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as a member of both the Baptist Disaster Relief and the Baptist Camper on Mission. He enjoyed traveling to see his family. Carmen is survived by: his wife, Sonja, of the home; his sons, Thomas A. Narde and wife, Kimberly of Cave Creek, AZ and Joseph A. Narde and wife, Rhonda of Columbus, GA; his daughter, Barbara A. Colley of Blanchard, OK; his step children, Steven Nelson of North Andover, MA, Jay Nelson of Edmond, OK, Kerri Hudson of Midwest City, OK and Rodney Nelson of Warr Acres, OK; his sister, Phyllis Narde of Corning, NY, and fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Joseph S. Narde.
