Carl Wayne Brackett, Jr. "J.R." was born in Stidham, OK on May 13, 1936 to Carl Willard and Dona Wisenhunt Brackett. He attended Stidham School where he met the love of his life, Antha June Acord. They married on June 16, 1956 and moved to Joplin, MO with his brothers Dale and Byrl. He worked various jobs there before beginning his career as an Aircraft mechanic. He and June moved to Wichita, KS where he was employed with Boeing. His career took him and his family to various locations. He earned his degree as a Certified Aircraft Mechanic from Spartan School of Aeronautics. He worked in that field for over 40 years, finally returning to Stidham in 1971. He was a member of Stidham Baptist Church and an active and involved member of the community. He and June owned and operated JR"s Place, also known as "The Stidham Store." After retirement, he enjoyed buying and selling tractors and antique cars with his brother Sam. Throughout his life, he always enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid card player. He was a member of Eufaula Masonic Lodge #1 and participated in the Bedouin Mounted Patrol. He was a man full of wisdom and utmost honesty and integrity, with a strong devotion to the Lord. You never walked away from him without gaining some type of knowledge or life lesson. He was never judgmental, but freely expressed his convictions and advice. Nothing was more important to J.R. than his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. J.R. is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He will be sorely missed and leaves behind his 3 adoring children, Julia Turner and husband Steve, Paula Tanner and husband Herb and Leslie Brackett and wife Tracy; seven grandchildren, Justin Cummings, his wife Becky & daughter Evie, Jami Pratte, her son Coulter, Caleigh Barrett, Jordan Brackett, Cory Askins, Ashlyn Brackett and a host of family and friends.
