Calvin Dale "Cal" Mendenhall, 69, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023, at his home. Cal was born on October 12, 1953, in Hobbs, New Mexico, the son of Jake and Gloria (Furlong) Mendenhall. Cal enlisted in the United States Navy in the early 1970's. He attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1976. Cal worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a contracting officer from 1979-1987. On November 7, 1980, Cal married Karen Smith. They were happily married forty-two years. They moved to Alaska where Cal worked as Deputy Director Contracting Squadron from 1987-2004. Cal enjoyed coaching and served as a little league coach in Eagle River, Alaska from 1989-2003 and later coached at the Chugiak High School as a fast pitch coach from 2002-2003. He then worked at General Service Admin in San Francisco as a legal liaison from 2004-2012.
Survivors include: his wife, Karen, of the home; daughters: Gloria Christi Pittel and husband Ryan and Ami Hillari Carroll and husband Ryan; brother, Earnie Mendenhall and sister Alma Richmond. He is also survived by four grandchildren. Cal is preceded in death by his parents Jake and Gloria Mendenhall and a daughter, Amanda Mendenhall.
