Howard "Bud" M. Simpson, 88, of Shawnee passed away on September 19, 2021 at the Belfair Memory Care Center in Shawnee. Bud was born on February 25, 1933 in Yale, Oklahoma, the son of Howard and Ruth Haskell (Paris) Simpson. He graduated from Yale High School in 1952. He was an avid collector of rocks and fossils. On May 30, 1955, he married Edna Faye Tankersley. They were happily married for sixty-five years, before Faye preceded him in death on April 8, 2020. He received his Master's Degree from the University of Tulsa in 1969. Bud worked for Sinclair/Arco as a geologist from 1960 until his retirement in 1995. They lived in Alaska for fifteen years from 1981 - 1996. Bud was a family oriented man who took his family everywhere including the malls, parks, fishing and cross country skiing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tulsa for twenty years. Survivors include: daughter, Cheryl Henderson of Shawnee; grandchildren, Brince Henderson and wife Lena of Shawnee, Beth Henderson of Eufaula, Cami Neely and husband Chuck of Eufaula; great grandchildren, Braxton, Katie, Harly, Payden, Tanner, and Allison; one great great granddaughter, Emalee; sister in-law, Rita Simpson, of Wilburton; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Edna Faye, and four siblings, Ruth, Billie Jo, Franklin D. and Nell Anna.
