Brenda Kay Houdesheldt, 70, passed away Friday, October 29th, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Brenda was born September 17th, 1951 to Thomas Brouhard, Jr. and Juanita (Ellis) Brouhard in Washington, Kansas. Brenda was a 1969 graduate of Bryan high school in Omaha, Nebraska. She married the love of her life, Steve Houdesheldt, on August 20, 1970. Together, they were blessed with two children, Kathrine and Christopher. Brenda was a Catholic. Brenda enjoyed all kinds of crafts but the most important thing in her life was caring for her family. She loved to sing in church, read Stephen King novels and watch John Wayne movies. Brenda had a wildlife sanctuary in her backyard where she cared for the wild animals and her hummingbirds. She will be remembered affectionately as a great wife, mother, grandma, great grandma and best friend. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas, Jr., and Juanita Brouhard; and sister, Jenny Weatherby. She is survived by her husband, Steve, having been married for 51 years; daughter, Kathrine Woodard and husband Anthony of Eufaula, Oklahoma; son, Christopher and wife Sheri Houdesheldt of Santa Rosa, California; brothers, Thomas Brouhard, III and wife Carron of North Carolina, Timothy Brouhard and wife Arlyss of Nebraska, Dave Brouhard and wife Linda of Nebraska; sister, Susan Gottschalk of Eufaula, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Megan and husband Cody Winkler, Taylor, Serena and friend Gerardo, and Norman; and one great grandchild, Kameron.
