Bonnie Gilbert was born on July 15, 1930 in Wilson, Oklahoma to Thomas Washington and Stella Marie (Pumphery) Gilbert. On December 1, 1946, she married Floyd Poteet. They lived in Moab, Utah where Floyd was a welder by trade. They later moved to Eufaula, Oklahoma. Bonnie graduated from Eufaula High School. They owned and operated the Brush Hill Country Store. Bonnie and Floyd were happily married for forty-three years, before he preceded her in death on August 18, 1990. She worked as the laundry attendant at the Fountainhead Lodge for twelve years before retiring in 1992. After her retirement, Bonnie went to work as a foster grandparent at Eufaula Schools and the Eufaula Indian Dormitory. She was a member of the Brush Hill Baptist Church. In 2007, due to health reasons, Bonnie moved to Ft. Gibson to be close to Steve and Kaye Paton. Survivors include: two daughters: Leana Darlene Ricard and husband, Jeff, of Lavaca, AR; Kaye Lyn Paton and husband, Steve, of Ft. Gibson, OK; three sons: Floyd Ray Poteet, of Bowie, TX; James Carl Poteet and wife, Lynda, of Eufaula, OK; Robert Poteet and wife, Karen, of Ardmore, OK; one sister in-law: Mickey Gilbert; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and seventeen great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Poteet; her parents, Thomas and Stella Gilbert; one son, Claude Poteet; two brothers: Merle and Clifton; two sisters: Ruth and Wilna; and one grandson, Brandon.
