Bobby Joe Roberts, 77, of Eufaula, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at his home. Bobby was born on February 21, 1938, in Wetumka, Oklahoma the son of (Toby) Joe and (Dolly) Martha Ester (Thompson) Roberts. He graduated from Wetumka High School in 1956. He attended the University of Central Oklahoma. Bobby enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the U.S. and Germany as an engineer and sniper. He was assigned to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as a construction draftsman. While in the Army, Bobby received the Sharp Shooters Metal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 7, 1960. Bobby married Ruth Stephenson in Oklahoma City. Bobby worked in construction and land development. He did a lot of federal and state contracting and remodeled federal courthouse buildings. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #1 of Eufaula, the Grand Lodge of McAlester and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Bobby was also a member of the Eufaula Water Resources Board, the Boy Scouts and numerous community boards and committees. Bobby is survived by his sons, Kenny Roberts of Las Cruses, New Mexico and Bobby Joe Roberts of Eufaula; his daughters, Robin Dillin of Bend, Oregon and Sherry Gray of Dustin; his brother, James Roberts of Edmond and a sister, Imogene Summers of Guthrie. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his dad, Joe Roberts, his mom, Dolly Roberts and his wife, Ruth Roberts.
