Betty Jean Wood, 87, of Eufaula, OK passed from this life on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at her family home. Betty was born on January 2, 1938 in Onapa, OK to Clarence Ellington Northcutt and Neva Gladys Northcutt (Johnson). Betty married the love of her life, Johnny Wood on September 1, 1956 in Tulsa, OK. Betty was a member of the Church of Christ in Harrah, Newalla, and Eufaula since 1974. Betty’s passion was her Native American Heritage as being a Muscogee Creek Native of the Bear Clan. She was Treasurer of the Choctaw Nation Senior Center in Crowder, OK and was an honorary member of the Choctaw Nation due to her service. Betty spent many years having a daycare in her home treating each of them as her own. Michael, Brian, and Brett Musgrove were “her boys” as they were kept from birth until they no longer needed daycare. Other children were Corey and Matthew Smart, Jennifer and Kristi Spurlock, Paul, Josh, and Hannah Kinman, Sarah and Tanner Johnson, Justine and Jacqueline Kirby and a few others that came when needed. Betty was a gifted artist who drew and painted many beautiful pictures. Her largest paintings were the baptistry paintings at Newalla Church of Christ and Eufaula Church of Christ. She loved painting family homes and anything related to her family history. Betty is survived by her husband of the home Johnny Wood; one son Steve Wood, two daughters; Elaine Wood and Stacey Harless & husband Herbert, two sisters, Reba Cardoza and Roberta Zielke, eleven grandchildren, Stephanie Wood, Cicely Wood, Johnny Wood, Steven Walker & wife Kiley, Clinton Trewin & wife Lauren, Jessica Walker, Danyelle Garlitz & husband Matt, Chacey Bennett & husband Greg, Alecia Myers & husband Cole, Austin Harless & wife Kaci, and Aubrey Faires. She has 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Bonnie Northcutt, Joyce Abels & husband Louis Abels Jr., Geraldine Davis & husband Richard Sr. and two brothers, Leroy Northcutt & wife Vera and Jesse Northcutt. Al Cardoza and Arthur Zielke. The family would like to extend a special Thank you to Heartland Hospice , Melissa & Laura.
