Betty Lou Chapman

Betty Lou Chapman, 78, of Jenks passed away August 22, 2017 at her home. Betty was born on February 19, 1939 in Mellette, Oklahoma; the daughter of Homer Virgil and Lillie (Thornton) Cowan. She graduated from Eufaula High School in 1957. On April 26, 1957, Betty married Raymond E. Chapman in Glenpool, Oklahoma. They were happily married for sixty years and four months. Betty worked as a secretary for the Jenks Schools for twenty-six years. She loved shoes and went all over the U.S. hunting for antiques. She was a member of the First Grace Church of Glenpool. Survivors include: her husband, Raymond, of the home; her daughters Gina Rae Chapman of the home and Kristi Lu Redick and husband Lee of Edmond; a brother, Bobby Joe Cowan and wife Wanda of Shawnee and one grandson Hunter Chapman. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jean Paul Hallum and a sister, Addie Mae Thomas. A funeral service was held 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Kelley Memorial Chapel with Randy Chapman officiating. Burial followed at the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hbmfuneralhome.com.
