Betty Joyce Dowling, 79, of Stroud, formerly of Checotah, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019, in Oklahoma City. Betty was born on September 8, 1939, in Bear Grove Township, Fayette County, Illinois the daughter of James and Pearl (Sterling) Mosley. She graduated from Patoka High School in Patoka, Illinois in 1957. On January 27, 1973, Betty married Jesse Curtis Dowling in Yukon. They were happily married for forty years. She worked as a waitress in Illinois and Oklahoma and at an airport limo service. Betty also worked at Western Electric for several years. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Eufaula and worked as the secretary. Survivors include: her sons, Scott Bender and wife Annette, of Chandler, OK; Ray Bender and wife Jenni, of Moore, OK; Tony Dowling and wife Ginger, of Piedmont, OK; and Jeremy Dowling and fiance, Stacy of Edmond, OK; her daughter, Caletta Dowling, of Rocky Ford, CO; brother, James Mosley and wife, Karlyn, of Alma, IL; twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse Curtis Dowling; brothers: Robert Mosley, Harold Mosley, and Vern Mosley; and her daughter, Shelly Jones.
