Betty Jo (Shipman) Mcguire

Betty McGuire (Shipman) was born on January 14, 1936, to Riley and Gertrude Shipman in Lenna, Oklahoma, and departed from this life on November 27, 2021.  She was the fifth child out of a family of thirteen children.  The Shipman family were farmers who farmed in both Oklahoma and California.  Betty was valedictorian of her eighth-grade class while living in California.  Betty married Clarence Dewey McGuire (C.D.) on December 27, 1951.  They had four children: Rex, Michael, Debra, and Marvin.  Betty was a successful business owner who established Mac's Drive-In in 1963, located in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma and owned and operated it for 30 years.  She was an institution to the community and many people recall fondly how she always had a kind word and would offer a helping hand to members in and around the community.  She baked daily for her restaurant and was known for her delicious pies and other goodies.  She enjoyed traveling with C.D. and friends to rodeos.  Her hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, and playing cards and dominoes with family and friends.  She was a member of Crescent Valley Baptist church when living in Fort Gibson and a member of Lenna Baptist Church while residing in Lenna.  She was truly an angel on earth who will be greatly missed!  Betty is preceded in death by both parents, siblings Christine, Robert, Albert, Lois, John, Doris, Susie, and Donald as well as her husband C.D., and son Rex McGuire.  Those left to cherish her memories are sons Michael (children Christopher McGuire, Shannon Walton, and Jonathan McGuire) son Marvin (daughters Sherry Dawn Harris and Paige Cochran), daughter Debra Grounds (spouse Bob, and their children Corey Grounds, Samuel Grounds, and daughter Mary Beth Beckham.)  Grandson Clarence McGuire (Little C.D.) as well as many great grand-children, sibling and friends.
